USAV Officials Clinic
REFEREE'S CLASS---those older kids who wish to certify as officials to officiate Midnight Sun tourneys, there is a certification class on Sun. Jan 4, 12:00-4 at the Midnight Sun gym. Bring your social security number and a check for $30. E-mail Willy Reeder at debberdo@gci.net to sign up.
For those of you have been certified for high school:
- the high school certification does not qualify you to work club ball. They are 2 different rule sets and certifications so you need to attend this USAV clinic.

Tryouts over
Tryouts for the 2008-09 season for Midnight Sun are complete. Thank you for trying out for the program. Anchorage, Eagle River and the valley areas have an incredible level of talent and interest in volleyball. If you did not make our program this year we highly recommend you tryout again next year. There will be plenty of opportunity for camps and clinics in the summer along with your middle and high school programs to improve your skills.

Mens Finals: Mike & Gary vs Joe & Bill

Womens Finals: Sarah & Morgan vs. Holly & Nicole

A little downpour didn’t dampen the spirits of those playing in this year’s state championship beach volleyball tournament on August 9 at the Springer Park sand courts. Two person teams competed in round-robin competition to determine seeding for the 25 point single elimination playoffs.
Last year’s women’s champs, Holly Evans and Nicole Knox, were dethroned by junior players Morgan Hooe and Sarah Johnson in the finals, 25-10. Bill Wyatt and Joe Kaltsbeek were ahead when Mike Vincent took himself out of play ending the finals match for him and partner, Gary Weiler.

If you are on your high school varsity team and are interested in becoming an official to call C -team and middle school matches please contact Dana at boulder95@hotmail.com
We are holding a clinic on Sunday, August 17th from 3-7pm at the Midnight Sun Gym. As of right now this is the only clinic scheduled.
You will need to bring a check made out to ASAA for $55 and know your social security number.

Teams will compete in a round-robin format with the top teams from each pool in the Men’s, Women’s or Coed divisions advancing to single elimination playoffs. Prizes will be awarded to the top two teams in each division. Cost is $20/team. Check-in is at 10 AM on the day of the event at the park. All ages and abilities are welcome and teams need not qualify to compete, but advance registration is recommended since participation is limited.
Presented by Mackowski and Associates Financial Planners, the events are held in cooperation with the Anchorage Parks and Recreation Department, Midnight Sun Volleyball and USA Volleyball.

Volleyball Festival Try-outs

If you are wanting to head to Reno for the 2008 Volleyball Festival you need to attend the tryouts on Sunday, January 27th at Hanshew Middle School. The try-out cost is $5 and a list will be circulated this week at your practices to add your name to it so we have an idea of how many to expect. The tryout times are:
17's & 18's are 10am to 12pm
15's & 16's are 12 - 2pm
13's & 14's are 2pm - 4pm

Spring USAV Clinic Scheduled
Willy Reeder is running a USAV officiating clinic at the Midnight Sun gym on January 13th from 12-4:30. If you would like to earn money officiating Midnight Sun or city league matches for the spring season and are in the Varisty Gold or Silver division please attend this clinic. The cost is $25 and you will need to provide your social security number. If you attended the Fall clinic with Freddie you do not need to attend this clinic.
